The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.​ With support from generous donors, the Red Cross is able to provide comfort, care and hope to those in need. 

• The Red Cross responds to nearly 60,000 disasters every year
• 95% of the Red Cross relief workers are volunteers
• The Red Cross provides about 40% of our nation’s blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors
