Hurricane Helene struck the Southeastern US as a devastating Category 4 storm, bringing deadly flooding, winds and storm surge to communities across the region. Hundreds died and thousands continue to be without basic services like water, power and sanitary living conditions.
Western North Carolina was particularly hit hard, with over 200 roads closed and communities cut off as first responders work to come in to help with rescue and recovery. Homes as well as businesses large and small have been flattened. Our hearts go out to these devastated families and communities in Western North Carolina, in the Florida panhandle and areas in western South Carolina, Virginia and eastern Tennessee.
Right now, the top priority of the American Red Cross is to offer comfort, shelter, food, spiritual care, and support to those affected by this historic storm and the uncertainties it brings.
We urgently ask you to join with Scottish Heritage USA to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Please donate to the Scottish Heritage USA fundraiser and help the American Red Cross meet people’s immediate needs and aid recovery in our communities during the days and weeks ahead. #Helene
