As someone born and raised in Hacienda Heights, the San Gabriel Valley has always been my home and a place I deeply care about. Last year, I had the honor of joining the Board for the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter, but I never anticipated how soon I’d be called to support our community during such challenging times.
The recent fires have been devastating, highlighting just how critical our support is in moments like this. It’s my personal goal to raise $10,000 to help our neighbors recover, and I know that, together, we can make a meaningful difference.
Our hearts are with all those affected by three major, uncontained wildfires, among them our very own Red Crossers. The Palisades Fire is the most destructive fire in LA history, currently burning 17,200+ acres, with 70,000+ residents under evacuation orders and thousands of structures burned. The Eaton Fire is burning 10,600 acres with tens of thousands of residents and structures under evacuation orders in the Altadena and Pasadena area. The Hurst Fire is burning 850+ acres with no containment. In addition to these three major fires, there are two other fires that are actively burning in Los Angeles, with very little containment – the Lidia Fire (350 acres burned) and Sunset Fire (42 acres burned).
Our disaster teams are working around the clock to provide safe shelter, food, financial assistance, health services, emotional, spiritual and mental health support, and much more. 200+ Red Cross responders mobilized to open emergency evacuation centers. Seven Red Cross shelters are open with 1,000+ of our impacted neighbors seeking refuge. Shelters are open at the Westwood Recreation Center, El Camino Real Charter High School, Ritchie Valens Recreation Center, Pan Pacific Recreation Center, Glendale Civic Center and Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Pomona Fairplex (Gate 3). The threat isn’t over. More of our neighbors and communities are at risk. We’ll keep you updated on our latest disaster response developments.
Your generosity makes our exceptional level of readiness possible. Right now, our two most urgent needs are financial donations and volunteer deployment. Help people affected by the California Wildfires in 2025—
