DONATE FUNDRAISE
Hurricane Helene left a path of destruction from Florida to Indiana. The Red Cross has launched 10 Disaster Relief Operations to respond to this event, delivering hope and relief where it is needed. The area of impact includes Florida's Big Bend where communities are still recovering from Hurricane Idalia, Hurricane Debby, and tornado damage, all in the last 13 months.
The focus for the Red Cross teams on the on the ground across the country is impact assessment, sheltering, and life-sustaining feeding. We will work to ensure that our operational structure is the right fit for the impact, ensuring that our resources are in the right places based on preliminary impact assessment.
We need your support now more than ever. Especially as there are more storms expected to impact the Southeastern U.S. in the coming days and weeks.
We invite you to join the Red Cross mission and support our neighbors impacted by disaster.
Across the country, the Red Cross responds to 60,000 disasters a year, providing immediate help to those in need. In times such as these, those impacted by disasters turn to the Red Cross for everything: from a warm meal to a place to lay their heads. This disaster relief work is only possible because of the generosity of people like you who are willing to help families in their darkest moments.
Your gift powers our organization with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology and the critical resources necessary to provide immediate relief and support.
- $225 provides critical relief supplies These relief supplies include a cooler, flashlight, batteries, hand sanitizer, insect repellant and sunscreen and a cleanup kit. They are stored and ready for distribution in multiple locations nationwide
- $842 provides food and shelter for a family of 4 for 5 days This service includes providing breakfast, lunch and dinner, the costs to mobilize and distribute a cot, two blankets and a comfort kit as well as the costs of Red Cross workers to provide this support
- $1,200 provides additional financial assistance for a family impacted by a disaster to help bridge gaps during recovery After some disasters, a second round of financial assistance can be provided to households who have additional recovery barriers on a major disaster response. This assistance fills the gap when a disaster destroys the community’s ability to help itself recover and other large-scale resources are not available
- $2,600 deploys Red Cross disaster management digital infrastructure for 1 day This covers the daily cost to develop, run, and maintain the Red Cross’ Disaster Management IT systems. It enables the Red Cross and our partners to share visual situational awareness and draw on near real-time data to better manage operations
