The Emory Red Cross Club is a proud part of the Red Cross Club network in Georgia and throughout the country. Our Club was founded in 2017 and currently has 40 members.

Please join us in support of the American Red Cross Sickle Cell Initiative. A gift of any size will help the American Red Cross inspire and engage blood donors who are Black and African American and conduct in-depth testing, typing and matching—above and beyond the standard infectious disease testing—of blood products for people living with sickle cell disease. As the single largest blood supplier in the country, the American Red Cross provides blood for patients with sickle cell disease every day, but there is a gap to provide of the most compatible unit of blood for patients with sickle cell disease.

Emory University is one of the leading research centers for sickle cell. The National Institutes of Health has awarded a four-year, $3 million grant to a research team at Emory and Georgia Tech that will use new technologies to improve the effectiveness of blood transfusions in patients with sickle cell disease. Emory University School of Medicine is a member of the Sickle Cell Clinical Research Network through the NIH and the Atlanta Sickle Cell Consortium, a citywide collaboration of physicians and researchers advancing the treatment of sickle cell disease and trying to develop a cure. Additionally, the school of medicine works with experts and treatment centers throughout the country to conduct clinical research studies with a focus on improving the quality of life and reducing complications for children affected by this disease.

Thank you for your support of our joint efforts.
